Robert de was born about 1090 in Caen, Normandy, France.  Robert de's father was Henry I "Beauclerc" King of England and his mother was Nest verch Rhys , Heiress of Carew.  His paternal grandparents were William I "The Conqueror" King of England and Matilda (Maud) of Flanders; his maternal grandparents were Rhys ap Tewdwr , King of Deheubarth and Gwladus verch Rhiwallon. He had a brother and a sister, named Henry and Maud of. He had five half-brothers and nine half-sisters, named Reynold de, William de, Robert, William, Maurice, Maud "The Empress" Princess of, Sibylla, Eustacia de, Elizabeth of, Alice of, Matilda of, Constance, Hadewise de and Miss de.  He died on October 31st, 1147 in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.
