John (Jean) de was born about 1148 in Brienne-le-Chateau, Champange, France.  John (Jean) de's father was Erard II Comte de Brienne and his mother was Agnes de Montfaucon.  His paternal grandparents were Walter II Comte de Brienne , Sire de Ramerupt and Humberline de Soissons; his maternal grandparents were Richard II Comte de Montfaucon and Agnes de Montbeliard. He had a brother named Walter (Gauthier) III Comte de.  He was the older of the two children.  He died in As a Franciscan Friar in Constantinople, Turkey.  He was buried in King of Jerusalem 1210-1212 ruled from Acre since Saracens had Jerusalem.
