Roger was born about 1060 in St. Saveur, Calvados, Normandy, France and his baptism took place in Of Framlingham, Suffolk, England.  Roger's father was Robert Bigod and his mother was Miss St. Saveur.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Bigod and Mrs. Robert Bigod; his maternal grandparents were Niel (Nigel) III De St. Sauveur and Adela D' Eu. He had a brother named William.  He was the older of the two children.  He died on September 8th, 1107 in Evesham, Suffolk, England..  He was buried in Thetford, Norfolk, England.

‌Roger and Adeliza (Alice) De were married in a religious ceremony about 1084 in Leicestershire, England.  They had a son and five daughters, named Hugh, Maud (Mary), Maud, Cecily, Gunnora and Jane.
