Hugh 1st Baron de was born about 1267 in Stratton Audley, Oxfordshire, England.  Hugh 1st Baron de's father was James de Audley , of Heleigh, Sheriff of Salop and his mother was Ela Longespee.  His paternal grandparents were Henry de Audley , of Heleigh, Sheriff-Stafford and Bertrade (Bertred) de Mainwaring; his maternal grandparents were William II Longespee , Sir Knight and Idoine de Camville. He had four brothers and a sister, named James de, Henry de, William de, Nicholas de and Joan de.  He was the youngest of the six children.  He died in Wallingford Castle, Berkshire, England.

‌Hugh 1st Baron de and Isolde (Iseude) de were married in a religious ceremony before 1295 in 2nd husband.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Hugh Baron de, James de and Alice de.
