Elizabeth was born on December 19th, 1786 in Masterson Station, Fayette Co., Kentucky. Elizabeth's father was Richard Masterson and her mother was Sarah Shore. Her paternal grandparents were Edward, Sr. Masterson and Mary Lindsay; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Shore and Sarah ?. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Richard Shore, Thomas Shore, Wesley Poythress, Richard, Sarah "Sally", Mary, Jane, Lucy and Eleanor. She was the second oldest of the ten children.-
