Henry was born on May 2nd, 1819 in Ashe Co., NC. Henry's father was Gasper Koons and his mother was Elizabeth May. His paternal grandparents were Gaspar Koons and Mercy Presnell. He had six brothers and five sisters, named John Thomas, William, John, Eli, Allen, Freeland, Sarah W., Martha, Nancy, Mary Jane and Minerva. He died at the age of 71 on June 14th, 1890 in Gosport, Owen Co., Indiana. He was buried in Koontz Cemetery, VanBuren Township, Monroe Co., Indiana.General Notes
