Benjamin was born in April 1868 in Chapel Hill, Polk Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana. Benjamin's father was John Wesley Deckard and his mother was Malissa Eads. His paternal grandparents were ? Deckard and Catherine Hillenburg; his maternal grandparents were William Eads and Nancy Miller. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Napoleon Budd, George Washington, King Perry, Richard, Sara Artemesia and Catherine Katy. He was the third youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 82 on April 1st, 1950 in Monroe Co., Indiana. He was buried in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Monroe Co., Indiana.-
