Sarah Evelyn was born on September 12th, 1916 in Smithville, Monroe Co., Indiana. Sarah Evelyn's father was William Lawrence Baugh and her mother was Zelma Shields. Her paternal grandparents were James Baugh and Elizabeth Cutright; her maternal grandparents were David Jefferson Shields and Cordelia Sexton. She had three brothers and a sister, named William Lawrence Jr., James Oliver, David Floyd, Sr and Wrytis Marie. She was the oldest of the five children.-
