General Notes

Anton came to the U.S. at the age of 33 with his wife Magdelina and 3
children, Antony, Marie, August, and his sister Maria. They traveled by
the ship Trave from Bremen & Southhampton to New York. They arrived on
April 27, 1888.
Anton  went back to Germany in 1889 (I suspect when his father Peter
died) and brought his mother Gertrude and 2 younger brothers, Andrew and
Julius over to America. They arrived August 28, 1889 on the ship Lahn
from Bremen and SouthHampton to New York.
Anton and Magdelina had 2 more children after arriving in America, Martha
born October 1888  and Rose Frances born February 1892.
During the 1900 census, Anton was a laborer at the Starch factory. He
lived on Morris St. in a rented home with his family.
Magdelina became ill and died March 1901. She is buried at St. Joseph
Cemetery in Indianapolis right next to Gertrude, Anton's mother. 
Magdelina and Gertrude died within 2 days of each other.
Anton never remarried.
He was  a member of Sacred Heart Parrish in Indianapolis and his children
attended school there.
During the 1910 census, Anton was still working for Starch Works as a
laborer. He lived on Dakota St. with 2 of his daughters, Martha M. age 20
who was a housekeeper and Rose F. age 18 who also worked at Starch Works
as a machine hand.
Anton died at the age of 75 from Cerelro Apoplexy contributed by Arterio
Sclerosis. He was retired at that time, living at 2315 Union St. He is
buried at St. Joseph cemetery in Indianapolis.
