Florida Militia Muster Rolls: Seminole Indian War, Special Publication # 74, Volume 8, Florida Department of Military Affairs State Arsenal - St. Francis Barracks, St. Augustine, Florida (Pages 35-36), show that SYLVESTER BRYANT served in Capt. James Niblack’s Mounted Company of the 1st Regiment, 2nd Brigade of Florida Militia in service of the United States by Maj. Gen’l. Thomas S. Jesup from the 27th of January to the 5th day of June 1837 (Florida Indian Wars). NOTE: Sylvester was married the sister of James Niblack.
Note: All officers and men enrolled January 27, 1837 by Capt. NIBLACK... and were present
at Fort Lancaster.
