John Francis Burcham Sr. 
John Francis was born on February 20th, 1828. John Francis' father was Nathaniel Squire Burcham and his mother was Matilda Caroline Johnson. His paternal grandparents were John Scott Burcham and Nancy Ann Dowden; his maternal grandfather was William C. Johnson. He had four brothers and four sisters, named James P., Jesse S., Nathaniel Spencer, William Fleming, Elizabeth, Nancy, Susannah and Matilda Caroline. He was the oldest of the nine children.-
