Roger was born in 1172.  Roger's father was Ralph de Somery and his mother was Margaret Fitzgilbert Marshall.  His paternal grandparents were John de Somery and Hawise de Paynel; his maternal grandparents were John Fitzgilbert and Sibilla de Salisbury. He had a sister named Joan.  He died at the age of 101 on August 26th, 1273.
