George was born on March 17th, 1844 in Markinch,Fifeshire,Scotland. George's father was David Crichton and his mother was Grace Page. His paternal grandparents were John Crichton and Margaret Dewar. He had four brothers and three sisters, named David, Robert, James, William, Helen, Isabella and Mary. He was the third youngest of the eight children.General Notes
