‌John A. and Martha Jane were married in a religious ceremony on June 14th, 1848 in , Hawkins, Tennessee.  They had eight sons and two daughters, named James Alexander, Joseph K., Thomas Octavius, George W., Andrew, Frank, John, Sterling, Mary E. and Hiley.
