George Grandstaff was born in 1747 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  George Grandstaff's father was John Amos Bischoff. He had three brothers named Johann Jacob, Mathias and Frantz Michel.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 86 in 1833 in Shenandoah County, Virginia.
