John was born about 1423 in Northamptonshire, England. John's father was Thomas Billing and his mother was Catherine Giffard. His paternal grandfather was John Billing; his maternal grandparents were Roger Giffard and Elizabeth Seyton. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Roger, William, Nicholas, Katherine, Isabel, Margaret and Billings. He was the second oldest of the nine children.-
