Katherine was born on March 10th, 1805 in , Rockingham, Virginia. Katherine's father was John Beal and her mother was Eve Or Elizabeth Eberhardt. Her paternal grandparents were John Nicholas Beal and Maria Elizabeth Kuefer. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named John, George, Martin, Jacob, Frederick, Peter, David, Elizabeth, Maria, Anna and Margaret Or Peggy. She was the fifth youngest of the twelve children.-
