James Arthur Barrett 
James Arthur was born in 1844 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. James Arthur's father was William Nelson Barrett and his mother was Nancy Sullivan. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Barrett and Winny Harrell; his maternal grandfather was Ezekiel Sullivan. He had four brothers and four sisters, named William E., Ezekiel Haynes, Thomas Orville, Clinton, Sarah Adeline, Mary Elizabeth, Margaret Or Peggy Jane and Martha Cornelia. He was the third oldest of the nine children.-
