Her paternal grandparents were Robert Beggs and Janet (Jennie) Magee; her maternal grandparents were Robert Brown and Sally Unknown. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Silas Hugh, William Warren, Samuel Ernest, Robert Shearer, Carrie and Jennet Magee. She was the second youngest of the seven children.-
