Matthew was born in 1708 in Bridgewater, Plymouth, MA.1 Matthew's father was Samuel Allen and his mother was Mary Pratt. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Allen and Sarah Partridge. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, Benjamin, Seth, Mary, Rebecca and Abigail. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Samuel, Ephraim, Timothy, Joseph and Mehitable.-
