BESSIE THE SISTER OF GRANDDADDY ALEXIUS BYRD WAS HIS FAVORITE SISTER.

HE CALLED MY MOM BESSIE ALL OF HER LIFE. I HEARD MY GRANDPARENTS
ARGUING OVER WHAT MY MOMS NAME WAS. GRANDMA WOULD SAY IT IS MARIE
ELIZABETH GRANDDADDY WOULD SAY IT IS NOT !! IT IS BESSIE!! WHEN MY MOM
WAS IN HER 40'S AND WENT TO GET A SOCIAL SECURITY CARD SHE NEEDED HER
BIRTH CERTIFICATE. THE COUNTY CLERK IN DARLINGTON COULD NOT LOCATE
HER, BUT MOM HAD GONE WITH HER DAD TO REGISTER WHEN SHE WAS ABOUT
5 YEARS OLD AND SHE KNEW THAT IT HAD TO BE THERE. THEY ASKED MOM WAS
SHE CALLED BY ANY NICK NAMES AND SHE SAID MY FATHER ALWAYS CALLED
ME BESSIE. THAT WAS HER NAME ON HER BIRTH CERTIFICATE!! MY MOM HAD
GONE ALL THROUGH SCHOOL, MARRIED AND USED ELIZABETH MARIE AS HER
NAME!! GRANDMA BYRD NEVER KNEW THAT GRANDDADDY HAD INDEED NAMED
HER BESSIE MARIE.
