  'Sarah Jane Jowett had magnificent voice. She sang by command (as amateur) for Queen Victoria on that lady's visit to Yorkshire. Her mother by command for Edward VII (when Prince of Wales) on a similar occasion. Sarah Janes daughter Maud Victoria Stell also a gifted pianist was first conductor of Manchester's first all women orchestra. Her name is recorded in the Book of Rememberance in the Henry Wood Memorial Chapel.
