Edward was born on November 11th, 1962 in Lower Hutt, New Zealand and his baptism took place in St Bernadette's Catholic Church, Nae Nae, Lower Hutt, New Zealand conducted by the priest.1   His godfather was/is Bronisław Woś and his godmother was/is Halina Manterys.  Edward's father was Mikołaj Polaczuk and his mother is Celina Polaczuk (Gawronek).  His paternal grandparents were Józef Polaczuk and Anastazja Polaczuk (Proniewicz); his maternal grandparents were Michał Gawronek and Henryka Gawronek (Skrzypczyńska). He has five brothers and three sisters, named Stefan, Jan, Marek, Piotr, Krzysztof, Anna, Elżbieta and Maria.  He is the second youngest of the nine children.

Edward and Sandy are married.  They have a son and a daughter, named Roman and Liliana.
