Helena was born on March 2nd, 1926.  Helena's father was Marcin Piwowarczyk and her mother was Aniela Piwowarczyk (Gondek).  Her paternal grandparents were Wojciech Piwowarczyk and Joanna Piwowarczyk (Suchta). She had two brothers and three sisters, named Bronisław (ksiądz), Eugeniusz, Julianna, Władysława and Monika.  She is the oldest of the six children.

Helena and Stanisław were married.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Jerzy, Witold and Krystyna.
