Serafin was born on November 2nd, 1899 in Zarogów and his christening took place in Nasiechowice, Poland conducted by the Father.1  Serafin's father was Marcin Manterys and his mother was Wiktoria Manterys (Dziura).  His paternal grandparents were Józef Manterys and Joanna Manterys (Chuchro). He had four brothers and two sisters, named Wojciech, Bronisław, Stanisław, Czesław, Agata and Franciszka.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  He died as a war casualty, On escape route from SIberian labour camps, typhus epidemic and malnutrition, at the age of 42 on February 7th, 1942 in Czirak-czi, Uzbekistan.  The funeral took place in Old cemetary for foreigners in Czirak-czi, Uzbekistan.  He was buried in Czirakczi, Uzbekistan.1 1
