Czesław was born on December 24th, 1936.  Czesław's father was Jakub Broda and his mother was Katarzyna Broda (Piwowarczyk).  His maternal grandparents were Wojciech Piwowarczyk and Joanna Piwowarczyk (Suchta). He had two brothers and a sister, named Antoni, Mieczysław and Leokadia.  He is the youngest of the four children.
