Maud was born about 1891 in Liverpool.1 Maud's father was William Elkington and her mother was Lillian Spencer. Her paternal grandparents were John Elkington and Mary Hannah Lewis. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Henry, William John, Thomas Ronald, Alice and Mary.-
