Emily was born about 1856 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England.1   Emily's father was William Elkington and her mother was Alice Hartley .  Her paternal grandparents are William Elkington and <Unknown>; her maternal grandfather is John HARTLEY. She had three brothers and two sisters, named John, William Henry, Walter, Mary Jane and Elizabeth  Ann.  She died in 1861.
