Emil was born on October 14th, 1925 in Brodno.  Emil's father was Ondrej Virdzek and his mother was Helena Virdzeková (Horvátová).  His paternal grandfather was Pavol Virdzek and his paternal grandmother is <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Horvát and Zuzana Horvátová (Bareny).  He had three brothers and a sister, named Ladislav, Ondrej, <Unknown> and <Unknown>.  He died at the age of 71 in October 1996 in Žilina.
