His paternal grandparents were Simon Petrus van Blerk and Johanna Margaretha Bergh (van Blerk); his maternal grandparents were Albertus Wynand Louw and Johanna Magda Lena Baard (Louw). He had four brothers and four sisters, named Albertus Daniel Johannes, Johannes Christiaan, Simon Petrus, Nicolaas Willem, Geertruida Maria, Geetruida Elizabeth, Anna Justina and Johanna Magdalena Alexandria. He died at just 24 days old on October 27th, 1816 in Paarl.General Notes
