Simon Petrus was born on September 3rd, 1897. Simon Petrus' father was Simon Petrus van Blerk and his mother was Maria Wilhelmina Joubert (van Blerk). His paternal grandparents were Simon Petrus van Blerk and Jacomina Hendrina Louw (van Blerk); his maternal grandparents were Jan Hendrik Hofmeyer Joubert and Sarah Margareatha Jordaan. He had a brother and six sisters, named Jan Hendrik Hofmeyer, Sarah Margaretha, Jacomina Hendrina, Maria Wilhelmina, van Blerk, Rachel Elizabeth and Hester Anna. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died at 4 months old on January 14th, 1898.-
