Johannes Everhardus' father was Adriaan Christiaan Dirk van Blerk and his mother was Wilhelmina de Villiers (van Blerk). His paternal grandparents were Johannes Everhadus van Blerk and Catharina Elizabeth Aletta van den Berg (van Blerk). He had two brothers and a sister, named Charl Jacobus, Rozier Bernadus Charles and Auria Magdalena. He died on July 5th, 1930.-
