Johanna Margaretha was born on June 24th, 1781 in Stellenbosch. Johanna Margaretha's father was Simon Petrus van Blerk and her mother was Johanna Margaretha Bergh (van Blerk). Her paternal grandparents were Nicolaas van Blerk and Catharina Maria Magetski; her maternal grandparents were Olof Abraham Bergh and Johanna Margaretha Groenewald (Bergh). She had two brothers and a sister, named Nicolaas, Johannes Petrus and Christina Marthina. She was the second oldest of the four children. She had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Jacobus Rogier, Christina Catharina, Anna Hendrika, Catharina Margaretha and Johanna Petronella.General Notes
