Henry Lancaster was born in Kogelfontein, Simons Town. Henry Lancaster's father was Nicolaas Johannes van Blerk and his mother was Blanch Sophia White (van Blerk). His paternal grandparents were Johannes Andries van Blerk and Johanna Maria Wessels (van Blerk); his maternal grandparents were Thomas George White and Elizabeth Jane (White). He had a brother and a sister, named Robert George and Lavinia Jane. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Douglas John Harry, Nicolaas Gerrit Alfred and Helena Johanna Maria.-
