Christina Marthina was born on June 3rd, 1787 in Stellenbosch. Christina Marthina's father was Simon Petrus van Blerk and her mother was Johanna Margaretha Bergh (van Blerk). Her paternal grandparents were Nicolaas van Blerk and Catharina Maria Magetski; her maternal grandparents were Olof Abraham Bergh and Johanna Margaretha Groenewald (Bergh). She had two brothers and a sister, named Nicolaas, Johannes Petrus and Johanna Margaretha. She was the youngest of the four children. She had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Jacobus Rogier, Christina Catharina, Anna Hendrika, Catharina Margaretha and Johanna Petronella.-
