Cecilia Margaretha's father was Edward Goodwin Cogill and her mother was Helena Johanna Alfrida van Blerk (Cogill). Her maternal grandparents were Simon Petrus van Blerk and Mathilda Amelia Allsop (van Blerk). She had two brothers and three sisters, named Edward William, Simon Henry, Matilda Amelia, Augusta Viola and Helena Johanna Alfrida.-
