Doña Maria de Ribera (Rivera)

Maria was born in 1611 in Seville. Maria's father was Diego López (Ribero) Rivera and her mother was Doña Blanca de Ribera (Mendez). Her paternal grandparents are Antonio Ribera and Catalina Rodríguez; her maternal grandparents are Enrique Rodríguez Obregón and Margarita López. She had four sisters named Catalina, Isabel, Clara and Margarita. She died at the age of 38 in 1649 in Mexico City.

- p. 170-2. Parents from Casteloblanco. Parents: Diego Lopez Ribero and Dona Blance de Rivera alias Blanca Mendez. Siblings: Dona Margarita de Rivera, Dona Isabel de Rivera, Dona Clara de Rivera, and Catalina de Rivera. Children: Gabriel de Granada and Raphael de Granada or Granados. All of these were reconciled in 1646 or 1649. Her husband was her cousin and relaxed in effigy in 1649. She had Alvaro de Acuna circumcize her two boys in San Luis Potosi. Before she was jailed, she conferred first with Vaez Sevilla and then went to Trebino de Sobremonte and Luis Perez Roldan, his brother-in-law. The divisions remained strong in the JEwish community even after the threat of Inquisition., Liebman n. 2. Rather than betray so many judaizers, especially of the Sobremonte faction, she starved herself to death. She also paid limnosas for other people, such as the Blancas, who made, ironically, a living from it, to fast in her stead.

Maria and Manuel were married. They had two sons named Gabriel and Rafael.
