Julian de Arbolaez (or Arbalaez)

Julian was born in Amsterdam. Julian's father is <Unknown> and his mother is <Unknown>. His paternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He was an only child. He died in 1649 in Chamcuero (Chamacuero).

General Notes
- p.177-8. Of Portuguese descent. Dealer in provisions and a multeer. Lived in Chamcuero, in Michoacan (near the Guanajuato border). Nephew of Alvaro de Acuna, also burned in effigy in this auto. "He comported himself with the dignity of one who had been born in Amsterdam and by virtue of attendance at its synagogues." p.177, he had attended synagogues in Pisa, Florence and Leghorn. Accompanied his uncle who the Inq said was a rabbi. They "made" New Christians they met "judaize". He was referred to as a "judaizer" rather than "Jew", as he, being from Amsterdam, certainly was. note 3, p 178, as rabbis, his uncle could have been a religious teacher or were seeking "contributions to the monies in Amsterdam used to ranseom Jews who were captured by the Barbary pirates and destined for the slave markets." p178.
