  • p. 81-2.  His father, Juan Gonzalez was a fugitive from the Portuguese Inquisition, and was presumed living in Flanders.  He worked for Simon Vaez Sevilla as "a merchant, a carpenter, and supervisor" of one of his obrajes.  Also acollector and cashier for the same.  He had helped Vaez Sevilla in hiding silver ingots and coins behind a trap door in the floor of his house.  He also helped Vaez Sevilla burn incriminating documents.  So that they could fast without suspicion of their own slaves, Vaez Sevilla and his wife would fiegn having an argument at the table and leave without leaving.
