  • p. 255-7.  From Seville.  Parents--Diego Cardoso, an aceitero and Antonia Gómez, from Marchena, Andalucía.  Mother-in-law--Blanca Enríquez.  Arrived in Mexico City in 1628.   He asked his wife whether she was a Jew or a Christian.  She admitted she was a judaizer, but he did not turn her in.  "Y con esto había advertido el error que había cometido en no haber venido a denunciarla."  He did a classic role reversal--he held that he regarded Catholicism in the inside, but had had to pretend that he was a judaizer in front of his mother-in-law/sister-in-law.  Circumcized
