  • Had passed over to Amsterdam before with some of his kin before coming to the New World.  It was only then that he was circumcized and took the name Gabriel Peregrino.  Wore a talitz (talid) while in Amsterdam and went to synagogue.  He would not eat rabbit, jackrabbit, pork, lard, fish without scales, or meat that was not killed [and prepared] by a “rabbi”, p. 191.  Strictly kept the Sabbath.
