Ingerson was born on October 30th, 1813 in Greenwood Sq., Nova Scotia.  Ingerson's father was Samuel McClure Spinney and his mother was Elizabeth Beech.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Spinney and Hannah Smith; his maternal grandparents are Isaac Beech and Elizabeth Berry. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Isaac, Jacob, Elisha, Henry, Sarah, Eliza, Eunice, Jane, Caroline, Catherine and Amoret.  He was the eighth oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 83 in 1896.
