Ida was born on February 14th, 1871 in Harmony, Queens County, Nova Scotia.  Ida's father was Austin Welton Spinney and her mother was Elizabeth Jane Morse.  Her paternal grandparents were Jacob Beach Spinney and Ann G. Crocker; her maternal grandfather is Jonathan Morse and her maternal grandmother was Elizabeth (Eliza) Spinney. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Jacob, Jonathan, Austin, Caleb, Joshua, Elizabeth, Ann, Charlotte, Zilpha, Minnie and Eunice.  She was the youngest of the twelve children.  She died at the age of 6 on January 3rd, 1878 in Harmony, Queens County, Nova Scotia.
