    Edith Mabel (Spinney) Crandall, 96, a retired buyer for the fromer Jordan Marsh Department Store, where she had worked for 25 years, died suddenly Saturday evening, March 3, 2001 at her son's home in East Falmouth, Massachusetts. Mrs. Crandall was born and educated in Malden, Massachusetts. She was a life long resident of Malden, later residing in East Falmouth for the last 3 years. Mrs Crandall was a life member of the Malden Hospital Ladies Aid, member of the Malden Old & New, Melrose Order of the Eastern Star Chapter # 99, Women's Society of the First Baptist Church and long time member of the First Baptist Church in Malden.
    She was a buyer for the former Joslin Department Store and the former Jordan Marsh Department Store in Malden, retiring in 1970.
    She is survived by her son, Gordon E. Crandall Jr. and his wife Harriet M. of East Falmouth, Massachusetts. Her daughter, Lois M. Crandall of Harpswell, Maine. Grandmother of 8 grandchildren & 11 great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her late husband Gordon E. Crandall Sr., her father George Spinney, and her mother, Minnie Thompson.
    She was born January 25, 1905 in Malden, Massachusetts.

    Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at Weir - Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden. The Rev. Martha A. Dominy of the First Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
