Jonathan Nudd Dow

Jonathan was born on January 13th, 1833. Jonathan's father was Col Josiah Dow and his mother was Almira Nudd. His paternal grandparents were Josiah Dow and Hannah Moulton. He had two brothers named John and Joseph. He was the youngest of the three children. He had a half-brother named Charles. He died due to Typhoid at the age of 29 on March 4th, 1862 in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

General Notes
- Jonathan was the first man of Hampton to die in the Civil War. He was a corporal, promoted to color sergeant for gallantry. There were eleven Hampton men in the Guards, attached to the brigade of General Neal Dow, a division of W. T. Sherman. Jonathan contracted typhoid and died at Hilton Head, South Carolina. His brother brought the body back to Hampton.
