Sophia's father was Jacob Peter Kolb and her mother was Anna Maria Kolb (Maiden Name: Schluter).  Her paternal grandparents were Philip Jacob Kolb (He was born Johann Philip Jacob Kolb, but his first name was not used when he immagrated to Halifax, NS, Canada, the exact year is unknown.) and Mary Magdalena Kolb (Maiden Name: Schluter). She had eight brothers and a sister, named Peter, John, Johannes, George, Jacob, Joseph, Edward, William and Anna Maria.  She was the youngest of the ten children.
