Peter's father was Jacob Peter Kolb and his mother was Anna Maria Kolb (Maiden Name: Schluter).  His paternal grandparents were Philip Jacob Kolb (He was born Johann Philip Jacob Kolb, but his first name was not used when he immagrated to Halifax, NS, Canada, the exact year is unknown.) and Mary Magdalena Kolb (Maiden Name: Schluter). He had seven brothers and two sisters, named John, Johannes, George, Jacob, Joseph, Edward, William, Anna Maria and Sophia.  He was the oldest of the ten children.
