Aleksander was born in 1865.  Aleksander's father was Abram Mekk and his mother was Anne Mekk (Zoova).  His paternal grandparents were Evert Mekk and Eva Mekk; his maternal grandparents were Mihkel Zoova and Tiiu Zoova (Peterson). He had a brother named Jaan.  He was the older of the two children. He had a half-brother named Toomas.  He died at the age of 15 in 1880.
