Liis was born in September 1869 in Arula, Lalli. Liis' father was Madis Dach and her mother was Mari Dach (Sahhar). Her paternal grandparents were Karl Dach and Liis. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Juhan, Jaan, Ado, Rein, Ann and Leena. She was the fifth oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 12 in 1881.
