Ann was born in 1777. Ann's father was Mäe-Äidu Jaan and her mother was Liis. Her paternal grandparents were Hindrik and Ann; her maternal grandparents were Jüri and Liis. She had three sisters named Mari, Epp and Liis. She was the third oldest of the four children.
